Our Anniversary

Sat, 1/29/11 – It is our 34^th wedding anniversary. We drove to the Monteverde area today. For the first part of the trip it was raining but the roads were paved. Later as we climbed towards Monteverde it was clear and beautiful but the roads were amazingly bad. The scenery was beautiful as we circled Monteverde Lake and then with lush vistas as we climbed. Neil drove and did a great job on the awful roads.

There were coffee farms as we got into the higher elevations.

There is a view all the way to the Pacific Ocean a block from our new home.

Our place, Rainbow Valley Lodge, is a sort of duplex. Lizz and Neil are staying upstairs. They had a larger room with a kitchen and enclosed porch and a beautiful view of “Rainbow Valley” which, true to its name, had beautiful double rainbows both days we were there. The owner's cat decided to adopt Lizz.

Joel and Shawne were downstairs since the winds are ferocious here, especially at night and and especially upstairs and Shawne has this thing about houses falling down in heavy winds. The downstairs didn't have a kitchen but had a refrigerator and coffee machine as well as a patio/porch. Both rooms have terrific views.

Being downstairs has an additional up side in that we are closer to the coati. Very friendly and very fond of bananas. They come right up to the door to beg. You have to watch them or they will even duck inside.

We had peanut butter and banana sandwiches for our anniversary dinner. That Joel, last of the big time spenders!
